S.T.A.R.S. Policies
Arrival at co-op
When your family arrives at co-op, parents need to go to the “Mom’s Room” to check-in (get your nametag). Nametags are returned at the end of each co-op. This is also where you will find announcements, sign-up sheets (such as field trips), and occasionally free items (curriculum, books, extra garden veggies, etc).
Student Worship Time
Students begin the second hour of co-op with worship. The Worship Coordinator works closely with parent volunteers to ensure that lessons are consistent with S.T.A.R.S. Statement of Faith. All students should gather in the ________________________ room at the start of worship. From time to time, there will be a separate lesson for the older students. This will be announced at the start of Student Worship Time.
Recess
Students finish the second hour of co-op with recess. Children are expected to wait at the bottom of the stairs until the Recess Volunteer leads them outside, as the __________ policy requires there to be an adult with the children at all times when outdoors. The Recess Volunteer is assisted by one or both of the Worship Volunteers. Worship volunteers should assume they will both be helping with recess unless informed otherwise by the Volunteer Coordinator.
Students may play on the playground, the grassy areas, and in the parking lot away from vehicles. S.T.A.R.S. families are asked to park near the ___________ to leave a large open area for outside play. When the weather is too cold to be outside for recess, the recess volunteer will facilitate indoor play.

Mom's Prayer Time (dad's welcome)
All parents are expected to participate in worship time (unless you are volunteering with the students), however, we understand that there will be times a parent is called out of the room for a parenting need. Please try to leave and return as quietly as possible. The Nursery Volunteer will care for any children too young to participate in worship/recess time.
Cleaning
Every week after co-op, two families will share the blessing of cleaning the S.T.A.R.S. area of the ____________ . The Volunteer Coordinator has developed a cleaning checklist, which is located ________________.
Clean-up after special events is coordinated by the person who organized the event.

Teachers and assistants
It is the policy of S.T.A.R.S. to have two adults per classroom. Teacher positions are generally reserved for families who have been a member a minimum of one semester. Teachers are responsible for providing the Secretary with a copy of their class syllabus by the third summer planning meeting.
Teacher Assistants should be prepared to take over the class should the Teacher have an emergency, and should be willing to assist the Teacher in any tasks assigned.

Field Trips
S.T.A.R.S. has a Field Trip Coordinator that will promote information about specific field trips. Field trips requiring fees should be paid in advance. Fees are generally non-refundable, since S.T.A.R.S. is not always able to obtain a refund from the organization. Some field trips are free.
Field trips are optional; however, once you sign up you are expected to attend. Businesses and organizations have arranged for their staff to run these events, and absenteeism reflects negatively on both S.T.A.R.S. co-op and homeschooling generally. If something happens and you have to miss a field trip, you should contact the Field Trip Coordinator as soon as possible to let them know.

S.T.A.R.S. is a tithing co-op. 10% of all membership dues, fundraising, registration fees, etc. received by S.T.A.R.S. are given to___________________________________ at the end of the year. ____________________________________ does not charge S.T.A.R.S. for use of the building.
Membership fees are currently $10.00 per school year, per family. If a class has an additional materials fee, this information will be included on the syllabus.

Absences, vacations and illness
The Volunteer Coordinator handles absences. Please notify the Volunteer Coordinator if you are going to be on vacation or if you or your children are ill and will not be at S.T.A.R.S. If you cannot reach the Volunteer Coordinator you should contact the S.T.A.R.S. Leader.
Snow days and closures
S.T.A.R.S. follows __________________________ for closures.
Membership
Once you join S.T.A.R.S. your information will stay active in our database unless you withdraw from the co-op. For many families, this happens when their youngest child graduates, and we celebrate at our annual S.T.A.R.S. graduation. However, if the Lord calls your family to new and exciting adventures before that time, we want to encourage you, and celebrate the time you had with us at S.T.A.R.S.
Families can ask to be put on our "past members" list if they would like to continue receiving notices for special events and field trips. S.T.A.R.S. does not maintain a database of non-members without the consent of the family.

__________________________ Use Agreement
Buildings, Grounds and Equipment
We seek to honor the Lord by honoring our agreement with __________________________.
__________________________ grants S.T.A.R.S. use of the building, but that use does not include consumables, such as art supplies or consumable kitchen items. S.T.A.R.S. supplies its own coffee and related items. Members may use the ______________ coffee cups and dishes (non-paper products). S.T.A.R.S. clean-up volunteers are responsible for washing any dishes used at the end of each co-op.
____________ equipment, such as sound equipment or office equipment, cannot be used without ____________ permission. Only the Leader (or someone designated by the Leader) is authorized to ask permission from the ____________ for equipment use. The ____________ also does not permit use of the back staircase, except during special events (like drama), and only if the staircase is being used as part of the event.
We recognize that accidents sometimes happen. The S.T.A.R.S. leader should be immediately notified of any damage that is caused. S.T.A.R.S. must pay for the repair of damage, even if the damage is accidental, so good stewardship helps keep our member dues low. To help avoid accidents, no food or drink is allowed in the sanctuary (including coffee in an enclosed container).
Intentional vandalism will be grounds for dismissal from S.T.A.R.S. without refund. However, each case will be determined individually, and grace can be extended where there is repentance. In either case, families will be expected to pay for the repairs.
During co-op, these rules apply even if you are a member of __________________________.
